It’s been a busy start to the new year for Templer Way Campers at our Newton Abbot-based workshop, and 2025 looks like it will be a jam packed year again for me and the team.
Sponsorship Launch With Devon & Cornwall Transporters
January began with a 2025 sponsorship launch for Devon & Cornwall Transporters (DCT), hosted at our workshop. We’ve proudly sponsored the DCT since the club’s inception in 2021, and it’s great to put something back into the VW scene, which is very vibrant here in the South West.
Continuing Our Support For DCT & The First Meet Of The Year
We attended the first DCT meet of the year which took place on the seafront at Teignmouth, where the company’s new demo van attracted a lot of attention.
It was a very busy morning and great to see so many new members. We answered lots of different questions, either technical or club related. It goes to show that the VW van scene is thriving.
A Tragic Incident At LJ’s Beach Shack
Unfortunately, the day was marred when ‘LJ’s Beach Shack’, which had been serving breakfast and coffee to visitors, suddenly caught fire. Despite the best efforts of Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue, burnt to the ground before our eyes!
Fortunately though, the club very quickly organised a ‘GoFundMe’ page, in an effort to support the devastated business owner.
Exhibiting At The Motorhome & Campervan Show
At the end of the month, the company will be exhibiting at a major motorhome exhibition for the first time. Templer Way will be at the Motorhome & Campervan Show, which takes place at West Point Exhibition Centre (24th-26th January) in Exeter. The show is held both in the main indoor arena and across the grounds, with Templer Way being located within the main hall.
Showcasing Our Products To A Wider Audience
It’s an ideal opportunity to showcase our products in front of a more mainstream audience for the first time. As opposed to the other more major manufacturers, we will be able to offer our services to those visitors who may already have a campervan or motorhome, but maybe wish to upgrade their existing vehicle, with solar panels, diesel heating or fit stand alone power stations for more ‘off grid’ camping.
Supporting Customers & Preparing For Campermart In February
At the start of February, the Templer way team will be travelling north to Shropshire to support a couple of customers whose vans were built by us last year. They’ve been invited to exhibit their vehicles at the prestigious ‘Campermart’ event (2nd February). This event is held every year at the Telford International Exhibition Centre. Campermart and is the first VW show of the year which continues to grow in size as the years go by. As a result, we were delighted and very proud to discover that both Mike Burnett (Transporter) and John Clewer (Crafter) had been invited to exhibit their Templer Way Campers built vehicles at the show.
Celebrating Practical, Everyday Vehicles
It should be noted that these are not show vehicles, both vans are used throughout the year. Be it for camping, and for fetching DIY materials or furniture from the likes of B&Q showing their daily flexibility.
Therefore, we’ll be on hand at Telford to help with the cleaning, and to promote the company to a wider audience.
Looking Ahead To An Exciting Year
With a busy calendar of events, and already taking orders for work in May, the new year is certainly looking like it’s going to be a good one for the company.
